Today Gaillard Island is an important habitat for thousands of birds representing 15 different species of skimmers, stilts, terns, pelicans, egrets, herons, ducks, and rails. Gaillard Island is also the only Alabama nesting site for caspain terns, sandwich terns, royal terns, and laughing gulls. The first recorded nesting of herring gulls occurred on Gaillard Island in 1986. The Alabama Dept. of Conservation and Natural Resources has closely monitored the colonial nesting shore and seabirds conducting annual surveys since 1998. During the first survey, they estimated that there were10,000 nests present on the island.

Is this cruise available in March??

david, on February 6th, 2013 at 1:00 pm Said:

Boat Tours are available year round. However dates and times must be confirmed with the vendor who provide these services. March 14-16 is a busy weekend and would be the most difficult to schedule.

Elena, on March 15th, 2013 at 6:31 am Said:

We are interested in a boat tour on either March 15, 16 or 17. We prefer the early afternoon tours, 2 or 3 hour duration, and if given a choice, prefer Friday. We are 2 adults, 2 teens. Can you tell me what is available, pricing, adn how to reserve? We can drive and meet group at Tommy’s dock to save $.

Thank you!
