Return to Specials and Packages

This is a wonderful opportunity to learn to cook several delicious meals over the course of the weekend as well as sample some wines, enjoy wonderful desserts and have an entire weekend of relaxation and FOOD!

This is a date specific package, available only the weekends of Sept 26th and 27th 2008 and Jan 30th and 31st 2009.

First on Friday we will have a wine tasting from 6-7pm. An expert from Gulf Coast Culinary Institute will be here and will have several wines to taste and learn about. The wine tasting will be at the B&B for your convenience. Arrive by 5:30pm on Friday and leave the rest to us. The wine tasting from 6-7 and then dinner on your own, perhaps at Jesse’s Restaurant, specializing in Steaks and Seafood, only 2/10th mile (walking distance).
Jesse's Restaurant Executive Chef, Joseph (Joey) Gilley cooked for the James Beard Foundation in the headquarters in New York City on Dec 4th, 2004. He and three members of his staff prepared dinner for approximately 75 patrons. The dinner featured Hors d'oeuvres and 6 courses in what the coordinator of the dinner aptly named for that evening, "A Gulf Coast Seafood Extravaganza". Each course was accompanied by a different wine specifically selected by Joey and his staff.

The James Beard Foundation is widely known as the premier organization for the advancement of the culinary arts and provides a wide variety of benefits for their members and their recipients alike. Among their publications, the Directory of Fine Food and Beverage professionals, and their Restaurant Directory are the two most widely known. The foundation was founded in 1985 by Julia Child, and its advisory board is made up by some of the top culinary professionals in America. Jesse's Restaurant is only one of four restaurants in Alabama listed in their annual Restaurant Directory!

Then on Saturday you will wake up to a Gourmet 3-course breakfast prepared by innkeeper David Worthington. But the real treat of the day is that you will attend your first of two cooking classes the Gulf Coast Culinary Institute. On Saturday, January 9th from 2:30 to about 8:00pm you will attend a Gulf Coast Seafood Extravaganza cooking class. After a brief lecture on the foods and wines of the Gulf Coast you will work with the rest of the class to help prepare a four course meal that the class will sit down to enjoy together, along with a selection of wines. That takes care of Saturday

Then on Sunday you will wake to a light fare of fruit, muffins, coffee and juices and will head back to Gulf Coast Culinary Institute. Chef David Worthington from the Magnolia Springs Bed and Breakfast will school you in healthy ways to prepare excellent tasting breakfast/brunch casseroles and desserts from 9:00am to 12:00pm. Since you will be eating what you prepare there you will not need lunch and will depart around noon for home.

To summarize, the package includes all you will need for the weekend except for dinner on your own Friday night.
