Fun in the Gulf Shores Sun
If you’re looking for an adventure, you’ve come to the right place! As the weather gets warmer, so much of the area’s natural beauty really comes to life. You can ditch the jacket and have fun in the sun with outdoor activities on both sea and shore. For an activity close to the Inn, why not take a relaxing guided boat tour of the Magnolia River? It’s the perfect way to see some local landmarks and get to know the history of the area. Or if you would rather venture off on your own, kayak down the river to spot some local wildlife at Weeks Bay Reserve. For more adventure on the water, check out the world-class fishing in the area. We’re surrounded by water on three sides, so just about any kind of fishing that you can imagine is available, including offshore, inland, back-bay, salt-water, freshwater, river, and stream!
If you’re more of a land lover, there’s nothing quite as fun as a bike ride to see the sights. Check out the Hugh S. Branyon Backcountry Trail with over 30 miles of trails in Alabama Gulf State Park. Day trips are a wonderful way to check out the area. We recommend venturing over to Mobile, AL, which is just under an hour from the Inn. Plus, it gives you a reason to stop by the Burris Farm Market to pick up some fresh fruits and vegetables and delicious baked goods. If you feel like being a little less active, drive over to The Wharf at Orange Beach for great shopping and dining. They also have tons of fantastic entertainment with their Ferris wheel, movie theater, escape room, mini-golf course, zipline and several popular concerts and events in their outdoor amphitheater.
The Best of Local Flavor
What would a trip to the south be without a taste of its legendary cuisine? Get a heaping helping of southern hospitality with local restaurants serving up delicious food. All these eateries come with our personal recommendation and offer some of the best food the area has to offer. In fact, one of the finest restaurants in the entire Gulf Coast region, Jesse’s Restaurant, is only a five-minute walk from the Inn! Boasting an extensive wine list, they serve fantastic steaks, seafood, and southern specialties. Another great place to get a bite is Fisher’s at Orange Beach Marina, an excellent seafood restaurant with casual dining downstairs and formal dining upstairs. And if you’re looking for something totally unique, then check out Page and Palette, just a short drive away in Fairhope. This family-owned bookstore offers both a lighthearted café, Latte Da Coffee Shop, and a bar, The Book Cellar, that’s open 7 days a week and houses their frequent author events! Who doesn’t want to try one of their cocktails with a literary twist, like Tequila Mockingbird, Rum Forrest Rum, The Last of the Mojitos, or Are You There God? It’s Me Margarita?
